چکیده

Although storm tracking algorithms are a key ingredient of nowcasting systems, evaluation of storm tracking algorithms has been indirect, labor intensive or non-specific. In this paper, we introduce a set of easily computable bulk statistics that can be used to directly evaluate the performance of tracking algorithms on specific characteristics. We apply the evaluation method to a diverse set of radar reflectivity data cases and note the characteristic behavior of five different storm tracking algorithms proposed in the literature and now employed in widely used nowcasting systems. Based on this objective evaluation, we devise a storm tracking algorithm that performs consistently and better than any of the previously suggested techniques. @Article{scoretrack, author = {Valliappa Lakshmanan and Travis Smith}, title = {An Objective Method of Evaluating and Devising Storm Tracking Algorithms}, journal = {Wea. and Forecasting},

Pareto design of fuzzy tracking control based on the particle swarm optimization algorithm for a walking robot in the lateral plane on slope

Many researchers have controlled and analyzed biped robots that walk in the sagittal plane. Nevertheless, walking robots require the capability to walk merely laterally, when they are faced with the obstacles such as a wall. In walking robot field, both nonlinearity of the dynamic equations and also having a tracking system cause an effective control has to be utilized to address these problems...

Tracking Fuzzy Storm Centers in Doppler Radar

In this paper, we describe an automatic storm tracking system to help with the forecasting of severe storms. The concepts fuzzy point, fuzzy vector, fuzzy length of a fuzzy vector, and fuzzy angle between two non-zero fuzzy vectors are rst examined. We use a region splitting algorithm with dynamic thresholding to determine storm masses in Doppler radar intensity images. We represent the center ...

Visual Tracking using Learning Histogram of Oriented Gradients by SVM on Mobile Robot

The intelligence of a mobile robot is highly dependent on its vision. The main objective of an intelligent mobile robot is in its ability to the online image processing, object detection, and especially visual tracking which is a complex task in stochastic environments. Tracking algorithms suffer from sequence challenges such as illumination variation, occlusion, and background clutter, so an a...

Evaluating the Effectiveness of Integrated Benders Decomposition Algorithm and Epsilon Constraint Method for Multi-Objective Facility Location Problem under Demand Uncertainty

One of the most challenging issues in multi-objective problems is finding Pareto optimal points. This paper describes an algorithm based on Benders Decomposition Algorithm (BDA) which tries to find Pareto solutions. For this aim, a multi-objective facility location allocation model is proposed. In this case, an integrated BDA and epsilon constraint method are proposed and it is shown that how P...
